wooga operates at the intersection of the two biggest online trends: Online Games and Social Networking. wooga is a start-up developing and marketing casual social games. Games, that focus on the interaction with your friends, a short play duration of just a couple of minutes and games with an addiction factor, that make you want to come back and play them again and again. We are a young, dynamic, hard-working, well funded team located in the heart of Berlin.
Your Job
You will join our IT team, implementing and maintaining a high performance and reliable server infrastructure that will be able to serve several successful games at once. In the course you will work with cutting edge technology. All our hardware is cloud based, our game API is REST based and we are one of the first to implement changes in the Facebook API.
Our development philosophy is end-to-end driven, you will specify, design, architect, implement and QA new functionality for wooga games. We expect you to work creatively, always looking for the best solution to solve a challenging problem.
This position reports to the Head of Technology / CTO.
You Qualifications
• Experience implementing APIs, preferably REST
• Strong mySQL knowledge
• Experience in PHP
• Knowledge of python, flash AS3 or Linux administration a plus
• Experience implementing browser base multiplayer games a plus
• Knowledge of the Facebook API a plus
• 2+ years work experience as a software engineer
• Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
• Understanding of scalability, systems engineering, and algorithms
• Good product sense and design sense
Your Profile
We are looking for someone with a strong engineering background who enjoys building high quality products used by millions. You are not a programming language evangelist, even though you do have strong opinion what makes a good one, you use what it takes to get the job done. You are a heavy user of social networks, and you have a fable for gaming. A good product sense, an understanding of the web 2.0 ecosystem, strong personal initiative and a "getting things done" mentality are essential.
