GD Lib funkt. nur mit jpg ???

Ist es eigentlich möglich, die gd lib zu überredn, auch gif Bilder darzustellen??

Ich lasse mir auf meiner Seite von einem Script thumbnails erzeugen. In diesem Script ist im akzeptierten Dateitypenarray auch gif aufgeführt.
Lade ich jedoch ein gif bild hoch, bekomme ich nur einen Platzalter.

wie arbeitet denn dein script?

evtl. hast du ja ein imagecreatefromjpg drin stehen, und müsstest das um ein imagecreatefromgif für gif-bilder erweitern...?

Seit Version 1.6 unterstützt die GD keine GIFs mehr, da UniSys seit 1998 Lizenzgebühren auf das dafür verwendete Kompressionsverfahren erhebt.

+ verschachtelte Schleifen für komplexe Animationen
+ Kompressionsalgorithmus von PNG
+ "Delta"-Bilder für noch bessere Kompression (ähnlich MPEG)
+ Integration von JNG-Bildern (Mischung aus PNG und JPEG)
+ unterstützt transparente JPEGs
- wird leider von der aktuellen Browser-Generation noch nicht unterstützt

At the end of December 1994, CompuServe Inc. and Unisys Corporation announced to the public that developers would have to pay a license fee in order to continue to use technology patented by Unisys in certain categories of software supporting the GIF format. These first statements caused immediate reactions and some confusion. As a longer term consequence, it appears likely that GIF will be replaced and extended by new file formats, but not so before the expiration of the patent which caused so much debate.
